Annual 2nd Hand Shoe and Dancewear Sale – Friday August 29th 5-7pm!
We are thrilled to host a 2nd hand sale each year for our families to buy and sell gently used Dancewear before the start of the season! We will be holding this season’s sale at the studio on Friday, August 29th from 5:00-7:00pm! The sale will be CASH ONLY.
We are accepting items for the sale during our regular summer office hours, Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:00-6:00pm through Thursday August 28th. No sale items will be accepted the day of the sale. Please read the following guidelines for dropping off your items:
– All items submitted must be clearly labelled (BOTH shoes must be labeled) with your name, contact number and asking price. Without proper labels, we will not know what items belong to you, and they will be considered a donation to the Taliyah Leigh Memorial Scholarship. Masking/Painter’s tape works very well for the labelling, and shoes must be secured together with elastic, loose string or ribbon – please do not bring shoes in a labelled bag or box. If labels fall off shoes, they will be considered donations as in years past we have had several labels fall off if not securely fastened. Below is an example of properly labeled and fastened shoes for the sale;
– All labelling should be done at home prior to bringing items into the studio. Office staff can help with pricing guidance at the time of drop, but items should already be labelled with contact information.
– Pricing for second-hand shoes is generally less than half of the original purchase price – Children’s ballet shoes and black patent leather tap shoes are often priced between $10-$15, and jazz shoes are generally $20-$25. The higher-priced shoes are usually the ones leftover in these sales, so if you want to sell your items please keep your pricing competitive.
– All proceeds of the sale will be added to accounts as a credit to be used towards tuition, merchandise, recital or competitive fees. We do not charge a consignment fee.
– We will be accepting tap, jazz, ballet and character shoes that are gently used, along with character skirts and bodysuits that meet our dress code and that are in great condition. We will not be accepting tights, costumes of any sort, pointe shoes, or any items that do not fit our dress code. Please take a moment to review the dress code online if you are not sure – https://northcalgarydance.com/
– Any items that did not sell will be available for pick up anytime after the week after the sale. You can choose to leave the items at the studio as we often have dancers shopping the sale items throughout the season!
– Please know that you are using the sale at your own risk, NCDC will not be accountable for any items lost or stolen whatsoever.
How do I receive the proceeds of the sale should my items sell?
All proceeds will be entered into your studio account as a credit within one week of the sale. You can login to Akada see your account balance anytime, or feel free to email the office to inquire about any credit you may have and how you would like to use it. Credits can be used for any fees that go through the studio, including tuition, competition, registration fees, costumes or recital tickets.
Do I need to be a current student to use the sale?
We welcome dance families from any studio to shop at the sale, however only current students may submit items into the sale as the proceeds are returned as account credit only.
Can I pay by credit card or debit?
No, the sale will be cash only. Please bring cash with you, and change will be provided when needed!
Do you charge a consignment fee?
No, we are happy to offer this sale to our valued families with no surcharge or consignment fees on items you are selling.
What happens if my items don't sell on August 29th?
You are welcome to pickup any items that did not sell at anytime in the season, during office hours starting the week after the sale. You may choose to leave the items with us, as many families will browse the items throughout the season as feet grow or needs change!
How should I label my shoes for the sale?
Please use masking or painters tape and clearly label BOTH shoes with your name and asking price. Please do not bring shoes in boxes or bags that are labeled, as the shoes get tried on throughout the sale, they may get separated from the box or bag and we will not know who the shoes belong to. Any items that are dropped off without proper labeling will be considered a donation to the Taliyah Leigh Memorial Scholarship Fund. Here are some photos that show properly labeled and fastened shoes;
What items do you accept for the sale?
We will accept any gently worn dance shoes, bodysuits, shorts and skirts that are within the guidelines of our dress code. We cannot accept items such as costumes, tights (unless new in packaging), activewear, shoes with extensive wear, pointe shoes or split sole tap shoes.
